Happy Birthday, Millet!
About this poem: Millet and I met in college and have been good friends since despite distance (she lives in Canada now, and I in Guam). On one of her birthdays, she demanded that I write her a poem...hence, this poem, which I posted on her Facebook account as a greeting on May 19, 2016.

So it's your birthday
And you demanded a greeting No stickers, no one-liners A long-winded one, not fleeting "What for?" I ask "Basta, I want," you say And that about sums up Us two, we have our way We met about thirty years ago As teens so innocent, so young Stayed together regardless We live life with a bang After kids and many pounds in between Tears and laughter still abound Stronger and better together Whether love is lost or found Funny and blatantly honest Exacting the best of each of us You are truly a gem A friendship so strong, it lasts So I oblige and send you this greeting And wish you all the best Sige na nga... Happy Birthday!!! You deserve it all, not a jest Hahahappy birthday, Milletski!!! |
